Street in the Punjab Basti, an area in North Delhi, opposite to the Tibetan Refugee Settlement, Majnu Ka Tilla, New Delhi, India, 2017. The colony is situated in North Delhi, crammed between a motorway and the river Yamuna. According to the Tibetan Welfare Association, around 4000 people live in the colony, that was founded around 1960. MT is somewhat a transit place, for Tibetans and tourists alike, as well as an economic hub. Due to to the high density in MT, many Tibetan refugees live in the vast area of the Punjab Basti, together with the indian population. Photo: Christoph Kellner.
